Cochasqui pyramids The “Cochasquí” Archaeological Research Park is one of the most important evidence of the pre-Inca civilization of the province of Pichincha and its settlement pattern is different from those known in Mezo América and the Andes.  The Cochasqui complex, located in the Tocachi parish, Pedro Moncayo canton, Pichincha province, has 15 pyramids, 21 funerary mounds, four site museums, 83.9 hectares of preserved archaeological area and preserves a series of historical, archaeological, anthropological, ethnographic and architectural, which represent evidence to highlight the value of the Quitu-Cara culture.  Various investigations lead us to believe that Cochasquí, like other archaeological centers, are faithful evidence of the Quitu-Cara culture, a developed social, technological and scientific organization that inhabited a vast region from the Coast to the Amazon and from the north of the province of Pichincha, to the southern region of Colombia.
